Markus Krösche leaves Eintracht Frankfurt, Milan back on track

Eintracht Frankfurt has announced the immediate departure of sporting director Markus Krösche, while Milan remains one of the options for the Head of Football role, fueling new speculation about the executive's future.
The context of the departure
Krösche had been in charge since 2021 with a contract that was set to expire on 30 June 2028. The decision was communicated by the club's Supervisory Board with an official note confirming his immediate release.
The measure came after the Bundesliga win over Cologne (1‑0), a week after the heavy defeat to Leipzig. The start of the season has been difficult: the team collected eight points in the first six matchdays, sitting in eleventh place in the table.
Implications for Milan
Milan had tried last summer to hire Krösche as the new Head of Football, but the operation failed. The early departure reopens the rumors about his possible move to Milan, where the club is closely monitoring the profile of the 46‑year‑old.
During his latest blitz in Italy, patron Gerry Cardinale indicated the intention to settle the matter in the coming months, also envisaging the insertion of a man on the field alongside coach Ruben Amorim.
Krösche, a former Paderborn player, has held coaching roles in the club's second team and as deputy to Roger Schmidt at Bayer Leverkusen. He was sporting director at Paderborn, where he achieved two promotions to the Bundesliga, before moving to Leipzig and then to Eintracht in 2021.
Eintracht Frankfurt's statement thanked Krösche for his “successful commitment in past years” and wished him all the best for his future path.
