Manna says Allegri stays calm as Napoli juggle injuries
In a candid interview on Radio Kiss Kiss Play Sport, SSC Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna praised head coach Massimiliano Allegri’s composure while outlining the club’s injury list – goalkeeper Alisson, defender Meret and midfielder Scott McTominay, who is set to resume training after a recovery stint in Firenze at Castel Volturno.
A fragile start to the campaign
Il Napoli is going through one of the first delicate moments of the season, marked by three consecutive defeats in the league and the Champions League. Manna told the microphones, “Confidence must always be there. We come from two positive seasons, have changed the technical guide and are still readjusting.” He added that each loss “has its own story” and must be examined individually.
The sporting director stressed that the squad must react and find the positives despite the setbacks. “These defeats leave a mark, but we must react and see what good we do in the matches,” he said, urging the team to regain belief.
Transfer window and January targets
Discussing the market, Manna said the current window has been “a bit complicated” after a heavy investment last year. He confirmed the club’s summer interest in Gabriel Jesus, explaining that the move fell through because no space could be freed for a sale.
“We know where we may have to intervene in January,” Manna added, noting that the club monitors every situation closely. The segment titled Stampa A− A+ Calciomercato Napoli highlighted this strategic approach.

He also updated on the injured players: Alisson should return shortly after the break, Meret will be back after the pause, while Anguissa still feels a slight discomfort and is likely to be rested.
Scott McTominay is recovering in the rest phase. “He should return after Firenze at Castel Volturno to resume individual work and will be fit for the medical test in the first days of October,” Manna explained.
On Allegri, Manna praised his “great experience and intelligence,” saying the coach knows how to live through difficult periods and remains tranquil.
Looking ahead, Manna expressed confidence that Napoli can secure a positive result, restore serenity and be ready for the January market moves.
