Manchester United aim to outbid City for Elliot Anderson
Manchester United are confident they can outbid Manchester City for 23‑year‑old midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Manchester City opened an £80 million bid for Anderson, but Nottingham Forest rejected it and are holding out for around £100 million; Anderson is under contract until 2029.
United co‑owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says he is prepared to meet Anderson’s wage demands if the player chooses Old Trafford; United have already completed a £35 million transfer for Ederson from Atalanta and still need midfield options after Casemiro’s departure and speculation over Manuel Ugarte’s future.

Anderson, who joined Nottingham Forest in 2024, recorded 50 appearances and four goals in the 2025‑26 season and is praised for progressive passing, work rate and dual‑winning ability. He is named in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup by manager Thomas Tuchel and is expected to start against Croatia on 17 June.
