In its statement the club wrote, ‘Our intention throughout this process is a simple one; to protect fair access to tickets for genuine Manchester United supporters and to tackle organised ticket touting and abuse of the ticketing system.’ It added that findings and supporting data will be shared once the process is concluded.

The statement also acknowledged that the way the process was communicated caused genuine upset and distress, recognising that some supporters who saw their actions as legitimate felt they were being ‘treated harshly’. It stressed that severe sanctions will be reserved for cases showing organised touting, systematic misuse or financial gain.

United said season tickets will only be cancelled in serious breach cases, and any cancelled tickets will be offered to supporters on the waiting list. The club pledged further transparency and promised to provide additional context as the investigation draws to a close.
