Xavi Simons and Malen named in Netherlands World Cup squad
Ronald Koeman announced the Netherlands' 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The squad includes Xavi Simons and Memphis Depay after their strong club seasons. Both players featured prominently in club campaigns this year.
Devyne Rensch remains in the squad despite recent Roma performances. The 23-year-old defender has been a regular starter for his club.
The Netherlands face Denmark in their opening match on June 18 in Los Angeles. The group also includes Portugal and Algeria.
Koeman selected three goalkeepers: Bart Verbruggen, Mark Flekken, and Justin Bijlow. Verbruggen started all Netherlands matches in UEFA Nations League 2024-25.
Defenders include Nathan Aké, Virgil van Dijk, and Jeremie Frimpong. Midfielders selected are Frenkie de Jong, Xavi Simons, and Ryan Gravenberch.
Forwards include Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo, and Brian Brobbey. The squad features players from clubs in England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.
