Madrid defender faces September trial over alleged minor sex tape
Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio, 23, will stand trial in September over the alleged sharing of a sex tape involving a minor, The Sun reports, as he faces two charges and will be tried alongside three former academy teammates at the court.
The 23‑year‑old defender faces two separate charges and will appear in court together with three former Real Madrid academy players.
Asencio is accused of sharing a sex tape involving a minor and of distributing the video without consent.
Both alleged victims have withdrawn their complaints, but a judge ruled they must re‑assert their positions in court for the withdrawal to be considered valid.
Former teammates Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez and Andres Garcia are also set to stand trial, accused of recording and distributing sexual videos involving a minor and another woman.
Defence lawyers sought to have evidence taken from the defendants' phones excluded, but the judge refused and accused the defendants of a "clear attempt to thwart the investigation".
Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia were arrested in September 2023; Asencio was initially interviewed by police before becoming part of the investigation. In May 2025 the Los Blancos star issued a statement denying the allegations, saying, "I have not participated in any behaviour that violates the sexual freedom of any woman, much less minors," and reaffirming his belief in the presumption of innocence.
The case originated from a complaint filed by the mother of a 16‑year‑old girl in the Canary Islands, who said the sexual activity was consensual but the recording was not.
