Lyon’s €20m bid for Rangers’ Chermiti rejected as Rangers dig in
Olympique Lyonnais have turned their attention to Glasgow Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti (22) as part of their search for a new striker. The Ligue 1 side have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the Portugal youth international, according to a report.
Following his €8 million move from Everton last summer, the Portugal U21 international excelled in Scotland. In all competitions, he scored 15 goals and registered five assists in 41 matches.
It was reported last week that talks had taken place between Lyon and Rangers. Foot Mercato now understands that €20 million will not be sufficient to acquire Chermiti’s services, as OL had hoped.
Rangers are desperate to retain the young centre-forward this summer, the publication adds. It remains to be seen whether Lyon will continue in their pursuit of the Portuguese forward after this setback.
Hearts’ Claudio Braga (26) had also been touted as a potential target for Lyon’s striking options.
