Luis Campos skips Ballon d’Or to watch PSG host Lyon

Sporting director Luis Campos has confirmed he will remain at the Parc des Princes for PSG's Monday evening clash with Olympique Lyonnais, opting out of the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in Londres. The decision aligns with captain Marquinhos, who is also expected to stay on the bench.
Decision prioritises the pitch
According to CulturePSG, Campos will watch the PSG‑OL match from the stands, meaning the QSI sporting director will not travel to the awards night. He made a similar choice last year, accompanying the Paris side to the Vélodrome when the ceremony was held at the Théâtre du Châtelet. This reinforces his preference for on‑field matters over off‑field honours.
Marquinhos, currently nursing an injury, is likewise set to remain at the Parc des Princes rather than join the delegation in Londres. Both men will watch the game together, underscoring the club's focus on the domestic fixture.
Other Paris figures miss the ceremony
Several other PSG personalities are also staying in Paris. Luis Enrique, Warren Zaïre‑Emery, Matvey Safonov, Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, João Neves and Ferran Torres will all remain at the Parc des Princes. President Nasser Al‑Khelaïfi’s attendance in Londres is still uncertain, as he has been in the city since the weekend but may decide at the last minute.
Injured forward Ousmane Dembélé, one of the 30 Ballon d’Or nominees and holder of the 2025 trophy, is expected in England with about fifteen close associates. Meanwhile, Nuno Mendes, also among the nominees, is ruled out by injury, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will travel to Qatar for knee surgery, missing both events.
The cumulative effect is that a large portion of the Paris squad will forgo the Londres ceremony, choosing instead to focus on the match against Lyon. The club’s hierarchy has made clear that the on‑field encounter takes precedence over the awards night.
With the decision announced just hours before both the match and the Ballon d’Or, the PSG‑OL showdown proceeds as planned on Monday evening, while the delegation in Londres will be markedly reduced.
