Kvaratskheli's injury gives Godts a chance at PSG, Enrique waits

The serious anterior cruciate ligament injury of Khvicha Kvaratskhelias during the Champions League duel with FC Barcelona offers Mika Godts a possible breakthrough at Paris Saint-Germain, reports coach Luis Enrique, who indicates that for now he will not go to the transfer market to look for a replacement.
Kvaratskhelias tore his anterior cruciate ligament last Tuesday and must undergo surgery, meaning he will probably miss the rest of the season. Coach Luis Enrique expressed sympathy and emphasized that the Georgian striker remains a very important player.
Godts gets chance at PSG
Godts, who moved from Ajax to the French powerhouse last summer, has struggled to secure a regular spot since his arrival. Kvaratskhelias's injury could, however, give him more playing opportunities, according to Enrique.
Enrique made it clear that no injury automatically requires a new signing. Since the start of the season, he has repeatedly said that injuries can be covered with the existing squad.
He does not completely rule out a winter reinforcement; he emphasizes that PSG monitors the transfer market closely each period, but that a purchase never occurs solely because of an injury.
‘Unfortunately we already suspected after the match that this injury was serious. We think of the player, what he has to go through, and that is difficult,’ said Luis Enrique on Saturday at the press conference. ‘He is, was and remains a very important player for us,’ he added.
