Liverpool secure future French striker Djylian N’Guessan on winter deal

Liverpool FC have reached an agreement with AS Saint‑Étienne for the transfer of 18‑year‑old striker Djylian N’Guessan. The official move will see the young forward join the Reds in the upcoming winter transfer window, after which he will continue his development on loan.

Loan to Stade Bretois 29 ensures regular minutes

N’Guessan will spend the remainder of the 2026–27 season at Stade Bretois 29, where he has been loaned to gain valuable first‑team experience. The arrangement allows the French prospect to develop in a competitive environment before integrating into Liverpool’s senior squad.

A native of Saint‑Nazaire, N’Guessan is a product of the Saint‑Étienne academy. He progressed through the club’s youth ranks and made his professional debut in January 2025, coming on as a substitute against Stade de Reims to become the third‑youngest player ever to wear the ASSE shirt.

To date he has recorded 13 senior appearances and scored once, a tally that has seen him hailed as one of France’s most promising centre‑forwards. His performances have attracted attention beyond Ligue 1, prompting Liverpool’s interest.

Liverpool sign N’Guessan and loan him to France until 2027

N’Guessan earned his first cap for the French Under‑16 side in 2023 and now represents the Under‑20s, for whom he has already made seven appearances. The right‑footed forward continues to climb the national youth ranks.

Liverpool will finalise the signing in January, after which the club will assess N’Guessan’s progress at Stade Bretois 29 before deciding on his integration into the first team. The young striker’s adaptation to English football remains the final hurdle.
