Liverpool’s £85m chase for Barcola intensifies as Salah exits

Liverpool have placed an £85 million bid for French winger Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint‑Germain, a move designed to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield. The 23‑year‑old forward has slipped down the pecking order under Luis Enrique, prompting the Reds to act.

Mohamed Salah reached an agreement to terminate his £400k‑per‑week contract one year early, ending his spell at Anfield ahead of schedule. The Egyptian King now appears close to a move to Besiktas, leaving Andoni Iraola’s side without a starting right‑sided attacker.

Yan Diomande has long been Liverpool’s No1 choice to replace Salah, but the RB Leipzig winger attracted a bid worth up to €100 million that the German club rejected, ensuring he will stay for the season. With Diomande unavailable, Richard Hughes will shift focus to other targets, including Said El Mala, Yankuba Minteh and Matias Fernandez‑Pardo.

Bradley Barcola emerges as the ideal solution; he broke through at OL in 2022‑23, posting seven goals and eleven assists in Ligue 1 and earning a Young Player of the Year nomination. The electric wide forward is right‑footed on the left, known for acceleration, progressive runs and intelligent pressing.

Barcola has been with Paris Saint‑Germain since 2023 and is contracted until the 2028 contract Year. PSG have denied listening to bids and have urged him to extend beyond that expiry.

If Liverpool’s £85 million offer succeeds, Barcola could leave the French Ligue 1 champions Saint‑Germain and bolster Liverpool’s attack, while Salah’s departure to Besiktas finalises his exit from the Premier League. Meanwhile, Diomande’s stay at RB Leipzig preserves the German club’s options on the right flank.
