Liverpool's €100m gamble to replace Salah's wing void

Liverpool's €100m gamble to replace Salah's wing void

Liverpool have a €100m deal on the table to fund a high‑profile winger signing after Mohamed Salah’s departure left a glaring shortage on the right flank. The Reds must act quickly to replace the Egyptian forward and restore the width described as terrible last season.

Salah’s exit removed the clear successor on the right wing, exposing the club’s lack of width throughout the campaign. Management highlighted that the side’s width was terrible last season, prompting a search for an elite winger.

Victor Munoz has already arrived and will be an asset on the flank. However, the Reds doubt that Munoz alone can fill the void left by Salah.

Liverpool have pushed for Yan Diomande, a specialist right‑flank player. Diomande’s preference for a move to Paris Saint‑Germain effectively ends Liverpool’s realistic chances of securing him.

Diomande’s €100m‑plus transfer to Paris is expected to displace Senegalese teenager Ibrahim Mbaye. Mbaye, rated among the world’s best young talents, could become available as a result.

Mbaye recently featured for Senegal at the World Cup and is seeking guaranteed playing time. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool could provide the minutes he desires.

The potential departure of Bradley Barcola from Paris adds another option that Liverpool are reportedly very keen to pursue. Barcola’s exit could complement any new winger acquisition for the Reds.

Now the Reds must secure external assistance to fund a €100m‑plus signing and outmaneuver Paris for any available talent. Failure to act swiftly could see their preferred targets slip away.
