Liverpool eye €170 million Barcola as winger crisis deepens

Liverpool are preparing a bid for Paris Saint‑Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with PSG valuing the French international at €170 million (about £145 million). Andoni Iraola stressed the urgent need for a new winger after injuries have left the squad thin, noting Barcola netted 11 league goals last season.

Alex Crook of talkSPORT says preliminary discussions have already taken place, but any suggestion that personal terms are wrapped up is wide of the mark at this stage. This indicates Liverpool are still in the early search phase.

The club explored a deal in 2025 when a fee of around €85 million, roughly £73 million, was quoted. The landscape has shifted dramatically and PSG are now said to value Barcola at €170 million, about £145 million, creating a sizeable valuation gap.

PSG’s stance is rooted in status; sources compare Barcola’s worth to Elliot Anderson at £116 million and Morgan Rogers at £117 million. The winger has two years left on his contract and is not expected to sign an extension, factors that shape his market price.

Liverpool’s own view is expected to be much lower, with talkSPORT understanding an initial valuation from Anfield of around £80 million. This reflects the club’s disciplined approach that previously saw a comparable £68 million plus £17 million add‑on package for Yan Diomande.

The winger search extends beyond Barcola; alternatives such as Matias Fernandez‑Pardo, Yankuba Minteh and Bournemouth’s Rayan have been tracked. Rayan’s release clause of over €100 million does not activate until 2027, and Pedro Neto is not under consideration.

Andoni Iraola made clear any doubt over the club’s intentions, saying: “There are obvious situations that we know where we need to sign players. A winger, for example – we definitely need to sign a winger.” He added that market cost and squad balance will guide the final decision.

Barcola’s numbers explain the appeal: 11 goals in 29 Ligue 1 games, two Champions League goals and eight World Cup appearances for France. He produced three goals and one assist on the global stage.

The challenge now is whether Liverpool can turn admiration into a deal; with PSG holding out for £145 million, Liverpool are likely to push back with their own valuation. This keeps the negotiation open but disciplined.
