Liverpool spends over €143 million on Barcola, the coach remains confident
This year again, Liverpool decided to break the bank during the summer transfer window, spending just over €143 million to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint‑Germain. The Reds' manager, Andoni Iraola, said he firmly believes in his potential, despite a first period without a goal or an assist.
A record investment for a young talent
Barcola's transfer represents the biggest expenditure of the Mersey club this summer. The club's financiers went for the Frenchman, hoping to see him shine in Liverpool's colours. Since his arrival, the player has featured in six matches, across all competitions, totalling 336 minutes of play.
Manager's confidence despite the numbers
Andoni Iraola stated to the press, on the eve of the Champions League match against Austrian side LASK, that Barcola was “a good player who plays well and produces a lot.” He added that people were sometimes too focused on the statistics. The manager also mentioned Florian Wirtz's difficult start to the season, highlighting that he knows the level of both players and expects good performances.

Iraola expressed his satisfaction with the progress shown by Barcola “the other day”, noting that the young striker had created chances, even if they hadn’t been finished. He said he has “100 % confidence” in Barcola and in “Flo”. The manager asked for more time for the Frenchman to settle, reminding that he was the last to arrive and would become more effective as he builds links with his teammates.
The coach concluded by stating that Barcola will become better as he establishes connections on the pitch. The former Olympique Lyonnais player will have another chance to prove the accuracy of his manager's words this Wednesday.
