Liverpool boss Iraola braces for LASK trip without three stars

Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Liverpool will travel to Austria on Wednesday evening for their Champions League meeting with LASK while three of their biggest names remain sidelined. The update comes after a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, leaving the Reds eager to restore momentum.

Injury list ahead of LASK

Dominik Szoboszlai missed Sunday’s squad after a hamstring problem surfaced during the international break, and he is now listed as doubtful for the Austrian fixture. Alexander Isak is out with an ankle issue, while Cody Gakpo battles a thigh problem, meaning all three will MISS the Wednesday game.

Young forward Lewis Koumas was handed a start through the middle, and Hugo Ekitike remains on the sidelines with an Achilles injury. Bradley Barcola occupies one of the wide positions alongside Victor Munoz.

Managerial outlook

Iraola told reporters, “They are not bad but it’s difficult to tell right now when they will be back,” stressing a day‑to‑day approach to the trio’s recovery. He added, “We already have the first win, and we want to win the second one because it’s always difficult to win games in this competition.”

The manager hinted that rotation may be necessary, noting the squad’s packed schedule of four games in ten days. He said, “Sometimes because of freshness reasons, because of some niggles, I think it’s going to be difficult to put exactly the same starting 11 tomorrow.”

After LASK, Liverpool host Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, then travel to face Villarreal in the Champions League before two home league fixtures against Brighton and Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
