Liverpool chase Barcola to plug creative void under Iraola
Liverpool under Andoni Iraola have a clear need for a creative winger after their 2-0 victory over Como on Sunday left a spot in the experienced first XI, and the club has been chasing Bradley Barcola for months ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.
The Reds' 2-0 win over Como on Sunday saw defenders Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo make their debut in an experienced first XI. Both players featured prominently as Liverpool secured the clean sheet at Anfield. The performance gave manager Andoni Iraola a solid defensive foundation to build around.
Despite the solid back line, fans at Anfield still see a vacancy in Iraola's attacking setup that could be filled by PSG winger Bradley Barcola. Liverpool have been trailing the French international for months, hoping to finalize a deal before the September 1 deadline. The club believes Barcola’s pace and creativity would complement the newly established defensive base for the Reds.
PSG revises Barcola price
PSG originally set a £145 million price tag on the 23‑year‑old French international. French outlet Jeunes Footeux reports the Parisian giants are now willing to accept offers between £110 million and £120 million, describing the reduction as a ‘discount’. PSG say the compromise is a small gesture to encourage Liverpool to step up their pursuit.
The publication warns that PSG are under no obligation to sell and will refuse to be more generous on the revised asking price. Liverpool must therefore present a compelling bid to secure Barcola before the window closes.
Fabrizio Romano told Reds fans the deal to bring Barcola to Liverpool will now accelerate, with the club ‘pushing’ to get it over the line. He added that the transfer market dynamics this summer make the negotiation particularly urgent.
