Lipsia spends €50 million on Gruda and Aynaoui to return to Bundesliga

Leipzig, currently seventh in the Bundesliga, is considering exercising the purchase options for Brajan Gruda and Neil El Aynaoui, both on loan, for a total investment of €50 million.

The German club started the season poorly, finding itself in seventh place in the Bundesliga, a position below its own ambitions. The opening weeks highlighted defensive gaps and a lack of offensive continuity.

To turn things around, the management is considering two major moves aimed at consolidating the technical project and strengthening the squad. The goal is to provide greater solidity in midfield and more danger in attack.

According to Philipp Hinze, journalist at Sky Sport Germany, Leipzig intends to exercise the purchase options for the two players currently on loan. Hinze emphasized that the purchase options are already included in the loan agreements.

Total investment of €50 million

The total investment would amount to €50 million, divided equally between the two players. The equal split reflects the similar valuation the club assigns to both players.

Brajan Gruda, a 22‑year‑old offensive talent, would be retained for a fee of €25 million stipulated by the buy‑out option. With this investment, Gruda could become one of the key pieces for the attacking unit.

Neil El Aynaoui, a 25‑year‑old midfielder, would have the same €25 million value, securing him a stable role in the squad for the coming seasons. Aynaoui, however, is expected to help stabilise the midfield and improve game management.

This double move demonstrates Leipzig's intent to build a more competitive team and return to the positions that guarantee access to European competitions. If the deals go through, the club hopes to turn seventh place into a challenge for European qualification.
