Leeds' €30 million bid thrusts Parma’s Mandela Keita into focus
Leeds United have been linked to a €30 million transfer for Parma midfielder Mandela Keita, reported as the club’s current target, would see the 26‑year‑old Belgian leave Parma, where he is under contract until mid‑2029.
Keita featured in 37 Serie A matches last season, starting 36 of them, and helped Parma finish thirteenth. He contributed one goal and one assist, while regularly controlling the midfield and excelling in duels.
His contract with Parma runs until the middle of 2029, securing the club’s long‑term hold on the player. Transfermarkt currently values Keita at €20 million, half of the reported Leeds bid.
Italian side Atalanta have also been monitoring Keita, with a potential move to Bergamo offering a step up while keeping him in Serie A. The club, a stable sub‑topper for the past decade, regularly competes in European tournaments.
Leeds United, sitting fourteenth in the Premier League, have already opened negotiations with Parma over the player. Rudi Garcia, Belgium’s national coach, omitted Keita from the World Cup squad, opting for other midfield options.
Keita’s situation illustrates the growing appetite among English clubs for physically robust midfielders from the Italian league. With valuations rising and contracts extending to 2029, clubs must weigh immediate fees against long‑term asset protection.
