Lamine Yamal leads Spain and extends its unbeaten Nations League run
Spain beat Czechia 3-1 in Oviedo on Saturday night, maintaining its historic run of 41 matches without defeat and completing three consecutive wins in the Nations League. Four Barcelona players started the match; Lamine Yamal and captain Rodri were the scorers for the Spanish side.
First minutes and early advantage
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the first minute, sending a left‑footed shot that slipped into the top corner of the Czech goal. The early goal allowed Spain to control the game and create several chances that forced the Czech defence to make decisive saves and blocks.
Rodri extended the lead at the 35th minute, scoring his first goal for the national team in more than two years after a move started by Pedri. The combination between Rodri and Pedri generated great pressure in the opponent’s area and consolidated the 2‑0 at halftime.
At the start of the second half, Luis de la Fuente substituted Yamal, Pedri and Dani Olmo, opting to rest the starters. The changes introduced Iván Fresneda and Roberto Fernández, but the Spanish rhythm remained despite the absence of its key pieces.

The Czech team responded with greater aggression and managed to reduce the difference thanks to Jiri Slama, who scored a counter‑attack goal twenty minutes before the end. A second Czech goal was disallowed for a foul in the build‑up, and captain Ladislav Krejci received two yellow cards, leaving Czechia with ten men.
Outcome and consequences
Spain sealed the win in the 89th minute when Victor Muñoz shot and the ball was deflected by the goalkeeper, allowing Mikel Merino to push the rebound into the back of the net. The final goal secured the victory and kept the Spanish side’s unbeaten run intact.
