Kompany receives clearance and returns home before Cup tie

Vincent Kompany, coach of Bayern Munich, was discharged from the hospital today and will continue his recovery at home, according to sporting director Max Eberl announced to the public broadcaster ARD, just before the round of 16 of the German Cup against second‑division Magdeburg.
The information was broadcast by Matthias Schrader and Jordi Archs, from the programme International Football, who clarified that the coach is suffering from meningitis, an inflammation of the meninges detected after his collapse on Friday.
"I think it's the best and biggest news for all of us," Max Eberl celebrated upon confirming the hospital discharge, and added that the cause was a viral infection contracted ten days earlier.
Timeline of the illness
On Friday, late in the afternoon, Kompany collapsed after his players' training and before starting the reserve team's session. He was rushed by ambulance to a clinic in Munich, where he remained for five days before being discharged.

Eberl reported that he now has permission to return home, where recovery will consist of rest and medication. "I am absolutely sure that very soon he will be back at 100 % on the edge of the pitch," he assured.
In the coach's absence, his English assistant Aaron Danks will temporarily take over the Bayern bench for the next fixture.
