Koeman Jr. rules out Guardiola for Oranje: a clear refusal

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Ronald Koeman Jr. says he does not believe Pep Guardiola will take over as head coach of the Oranje, stating that the Spaniard simply does not want the job. The son of former Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, who knows the Spanjaard a little, expects Guardiola to decline the role.

In the Oranje Café, Koeman Jr., the goalkeeper of Telstar, was asked who should succeed his father at Oranje. He replied, “I also hear names, Guardiola for example. He is really not coming. He doesn’t want to. He has worked with the very best players in the world, which is not the case for Nederland, so he will not do it.”

Betting markets have repeatedly mentioned Guardiola in connection with the Dutch national team, fueling the speculation. The speculation stems from a fragment of the documentary ‘Força Koeman’ broadcast years ago on Videoland, where Guardiola said the KNVB could always call him about Oranje. In that clip, the Spaniard expressed admiration for Johan Cruijff and the Hollandse school of football.

Koeman Jr. admitted he does not know who will replace his father, noting that Arne Slot might be in talks with Oranje. “I don’t know,” he said, adding that the decision remains open.

The conversation also turned to upcoming topics, including France's weak spot and a bleed for Morocco. Wie will ultimately take the reins of the national side is still uncertain, leaving the Dutch federation to decide.

Observers note that Koeman’ family legacy continues to shape discussions about the future of Oranje. The Caf where the interview took place was packed with fans eager for answers.

Koeman Jr. insists that Guardiola Gaat not accept the position.

The discussion centers on the Nederlands elftal and its next head coach.
