Nations League
Klopp schedules decisive Nations League matches before Christmas
Jürgen Klopp, as head coach, still has several decisive appointments ahead of him that will take place before Christmas and will decide Germany's qualification for the Nations League quarter‑finals. In five weeks he will gather the national team for the final 2026 matches, before two more draws follow after the group stage is completed.
Calendar for the November international matches
On 5 or 6 November Klopp will name the squad for the upcoming Nations League matches and trim the current XXL roster of 44 players down to 23 or 24. The next international fixtures take place in mid‑November, with the match on 13 November in Belgrade against the bottom‑ranked Serbia potentially deciding qualification for the quarter‑finals.
On 16 November the DFB Eleven will meet the Netherlands in Berlin in the group final. A win or draw is required to secure a quarter‑final place; a loss could mean relegation to the B League.
Draws and further dates in December
At the end of November the first knockout games of the Nations League will be drawn. Germany can at best receive a quarter‑final opponent, or at worst a counterpart for the relegation play‑offs in March 2027.
On 6 December the draw for the Euro 2028 qualification groups will take place in Belfast. There Klopp will learn which route the DFB Eleven must take to reach the European Championship final. The Nations League result determines whether Germany will be drawn into a top‑top pot with teams such as Spain, France or England.
During these weeks Klopp watches his candidates both in the Bundesliga and in several European leagues and in the European Cup, to find the optimal squad for the upcoming tasks.
