Klopp celebrates Germany's first Nations League win in Monaco

Jürgen Klopp led Germany to its first Nations League victory, thanks to Florian Wirtz's goal that sealed the match against Serbia 2-0 in Munich on the third matchday of Group 2.

German dominance and early chances

The first goal came in the 39th minute, when Tom Bischof broke the silence, but it was Wirtz who doubled the lead in the 61st minute, securing the final result.

Klopp, visibly enthusiastic, described the performance as “a counter‑pressing that went through the roof”, praising his players' ability to win the ball back quickly.

Other results of the round

In the same round, Greece and the Netherlands drew 2-2 in Thessaloniki, leaving Germany on four points, behind Greece (7) and the Netherlands (5).

In Group 4, Portugal beat Denmark 4-2 without Cristiano Ronaldo, while Wales surprised Norway with a 2-1 win.

Klopp's comments

Klopp highlighted the importance of pressing and defensive compactness, emphasizing the role of defenders Waldemar Anton and Malick Thiaw in the back line.

The coach also noted that, despite Serbia being a weaker opponent, the team displayed “a mix of top‑level football and mentality” to use as a benchmark for upcoming matches.

Germany's next assignment will be the return to Greece, where they will face a more challenging side, according to Klopp.

The match confirmed Klopp's ability to bring forward young talents like Bischof and Wirtz, suggesting a promising future for the national team.
