Kátia Aveiro hints Ronaldo's World Cup could be his final act

🇵🇹
Cristiano Ronaldo's international career could end at the 2026 World Cup, his sister Kátia Aveiro announced on Portuguese television ahead of Portugal's Group match against Croatia on the night of 2 July, citing a reliable source that the tournament will be his 'Last Dance'. Aveiro told Sport TV, "According to the information I have, you can say goodbye," before the Portugal‑Croatia clash, adding that she believes the World Cup will be his farewell. She said the tournament could be his "Last Dance" and that a possible knockout by Croatia would mark his final appearance for Portugal. The 41‑year‑old Ronaldo has started in Portugal's previous three World Cup matches. He has already scored twice at the 2026 tournament, both goals coming in the second group game against Uzbekistan. Ahead of the Croatia fixture, Ronaldo's international record stands at 231 caps. He has netted 145 goals for the national side, according to the same source. Aveiro stressed that her comments refer only to his international future. Ronaldo's contract with Saudi club Al Nassr runs until mid‑2027, suggesting he may continue at club level. If Portugal exits the group stage, the World Cup will indeed become Ronaldo's swan song for the national team. Otherwise, he could feature in the knockout rounds before deciding on retirement.
