Kane praises England's dominant display as a perfect match

England achieved today an overwhelming victory of seven to nil over Croatia in the Nations League, with striker Harry Kane of Bayern Munich describing the match as the ‘perfect match’. The Three Lions dominated from start to finish, with a fluid attack and an intense tempo.

Kane's contribution and vision

The striker of Bayern Munich delivered two goals himself and an assist. To ITV he said: “Incredible. We have often talked about a perfect match, in which we would be fully dominant from start to finish, with and without the ball. This was that perfect match.”

Kane emphasised the many positional changes up front: “With Gordon, Bellingham, Saka and myself we have four good players who can operate in different positions. There was total freedom, making it difficult for an opponent to pick us apart.”

Croatia gave some players a rest on Tuesday against Spain, hoping to secure a place among the top two in the group. Kane said they were staying in a beautiful hotel with a sea view and enjoying wonderful weather. He added that they could have slipped into holiday mode, but that this was the perfect end to the week.

Tuchel's praise and group situation

England manager Thomas Tuchel was also lyrical: “From start to finish this was a performance of the highest level. It never stopped; we kept the tempo high and found the openings. We were not only sharp in front of goal, but also in directly counter‑attacking the opponent. The mentality was excellent.”

Kane concluded that England had played a Premier League match, with the Three Lions using their full freedom of movement. With such a dominant display the path to the group top seems within reach. The tempo was so high that the Croatians barely got a chance to get on the ball.
