Kane reaches record tally for England in the Nations League
In the bright light of Wembley Stadium, fans on Tuesday saw the 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane take the field for England for the 125th time, score two goals and lead England to a 3‑0 victory over the Czech Republic; at the same time, Switzerland extended its winning streak in the Nations League.
The goal not only gave Kane the points, but also the record, matching Peter Shilton, the previous record holder, with 125 caps. At 33, he now stands on the same level as the legendary goalkeeper.
Kane's Goals and Assists
Kane's influence began already in the 27th minute, when his cross from Vladimir Coufal was deflected into his own net – the first goal for England. Fourteen minutes later, in the 40th minute, he converted the opening goal after an assist from Morgan Rogers. The second goal flood followed in the 57th minute, when a precise corner from Lewis Hall was headed by Kane to make it 3‑0.
England's Table Position
With the win England reached nine points and climbed to second place in Group A3, three points behind league leaders Spain. The Three Lions therefore have a goal difference of +11, 14 goals scored and only three conceded.
