Kane and Guirassy show opposite form before Der Klassiker

As Bayern Munich Harry Kane arrives in fine form while Borussia Dortmund Serhou Guirassy looks to rediscover his earlier prolific standards, the two strikers set opposite form ahead of Der Klassiker at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 8 of the Bundesliga.
Guirassy's scoring pedigree
Guirassy has twice finished runner‑up to Kane in the Torjägerkanone race since the Englishman joined Bayern, before slipping to third place last season.
Across 141 Bundesliga appearances for Cologne, VfB Stuttgart and Dortmund, he has netted 83 goals, including 67 in 108 games for Dortmund after four seasons in France.
He holds Stuttgart’s record for most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign, scoring 28 times in 28 appearances in 2023/24.
The following season he added 21 Bundesliga goals for Dortmund, becoming only the second player to exceed that tally in consecutive campaigns for different clubs.
Guirassy also finished joint‑top scorer in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League with 13 goals, alongside Barcelona’s Raphinha.
Although he was less prolific last season with 17 Bundesliga goals, that total still secured third place in the scoring charts.
He has already scored seven goals in all competitions this term.
Kane stays low‑key after his Ballon d’Or during Bayern's win
Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač warned that “Strikers always have to go through a slump now and then. The important thing is to come out of it.”
If 17 league goals constitute a slump for a striker of Guirassy’s calibre, Bayern have every reason to fear his return to form.
Kane's continued dominance
Since arriving in Bavaria, Kane has claimed the Torjägerkanone in each of his first three Bundesliga seasons.
He has already contributed 10 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions this term, adding four assists in his first seven league outings.
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany praised him, saying “He’s everywhere and is a player who makes the right decisions incredibly often.”
Kane has also been prolific in Europe, scoring four times in Bayern’s opening three Champions League fixtures to sit joint‑top of the competition’s scoring chart alongside Guirassy.
Vincent Kompany leaves hospital but Bayern still lack a return date
His outstanding season was capped on Monday night when he claimed the Ballon d’Or.
Bayern sport director Max Eberl added, “Harry is an asset to Bayern and would be to any team in the world… This title is the reward for his impressive career achievements as a whole.”
