Vincent Kompany leaves hospital but Bayern still lack a return date

Esporte News Mundo reported that Vincent Kompany left hospital on Wednesday the 28th, yet Bayern Munich still have no set date for his return to the bench.

Health update and discharge

Vincent Kompany was discharged from hospital on Wednesday the 28th after being admitted following a fainting episode at Bayern Munich’s training centre in Munich, Germany.

The 40‑year‑old coach will continue his recovery at home and no date has been set for his return to the Bayern bench.

The update was released on Thursday the 29th after sporting director Max Eberl provided new information.

Eberl explained that the health issue behind the collapse was meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

He said Kompany’s discharge is a positive development for Bayern, though rest and medical treatment remain essential.

Kompany had been absent since the previous Friday when he fell ill while observing a Bayern U‑23 training session.

He was taken by ambulance to a Munich hospital where he remained under medical care for five days.

The discharge was confirmed by Max Eberl before Bayern’s German Cup tie against Magdeburg.

Eberl expressed relief at the progress but declined to give a timetable for Kompany’s return to professional duties.

Bayern’s preparation and upcoming match

He added that Kompany will stay at home, resting and taking medication until he is fit to resume his routine.

The club expects the coach to resume full duties once fully recovered, without rushing any stage of the process.

Fans were concerned by his absence, especially after a week in which he had already shown signs of indisposition.

Earlier, Kompany had suffered a viral infection that forced him to miss some activities before returning to the bench for a Champions League match.

After the Arsenal game, he admitted he ignored his body’s signals during the illness and tried to maintain his professional routine despite a strong virus.

Bayern confirmed that the fainting was caused by meningitis, a condition that requires appropriate medical monitoring.

The diagnosis clarified the episode that had previously been attributed only to a viral infection.

Although his clinical improvement allowed discharge, it does not mean he can immediately resume work.

His recovery will depend on medical assessment and response to home treatment.

Consequently, Bayern chose not to set a specific date for his return.

The priority is ensuring Kompany is fully recovered before taking charge again.

In his absence, assistants Aaron Danks and René Maric will lead the team’s preparation and guidance.

They will be responsible for tactical planning and squad organisation while the coach recuperates.

Bayern’s next fixture is a Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The match is a traditional German derby between two of the league’s leading forces.

Bayern arrive for the derby after a 6‑1 victory over Magdeburg that secured their place in the German Cup.

Even without Kompany on the touchline, the side displayed a consistent offensive performance and progressed in the tournament.

His absence, however, alters the preparation routine for the high‑profile game.

The assistants will need to maintain the tactical plan and squad organisation during his recovery.
