Ipswich lock in Scherpen's Premier pedigree with four‑year deal

[Getty Images] Ipswich Town have completed the signing of 26‑year‑old goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen from Belgian Pro League side Union Saint‑Gilloise, securing him on a four‑year contract at Portman Road.

The shot‑stopper kept 21 clean sheets in 43 appearances last season, underlining his consistency.

He arrives with Premier League experience from a four‑year spell at Brighton, mainly on loan between 2021 and 2025.

Scherpen also featured in Champions League group‑stage matches in each of the past two seasons, adding European pedigree.

The signing marks Gary O'Neil's sixth summer addition, bolstering the Tractor Boys' goalkeeping unit as they aim to improve defensive stability.
