Important: Glasner vows consistency as Forest chase top‑half

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Important for Nottingham Forest, new boss Oliver Glasner marked his first day with the squad ahead of full pre‑season training, speaking to Forest TV after a Thursday news conference. The 51‑year‑old Austrian stressed that creating an exciting, challenging environment is key to competing in the Premier League.

[Getty Images] New Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner arrived from Crystal Palace, where he guided the Eagles to an FA Cup triumph and a Conference League victory. He told Forest TV, “For me, it is very important that it is exciting and challenging.” He added, “I really believe that us, all together – the staff, the players, the fans, the leadership of the club – can be really competitive in the Premier League, which makes me excited.”

Glasner said, “This is a traditional club with a fantastic fanbase and a very ambitious owner that wants to take a step forward.” He noted the squad is “very interesting,” which was a primary factor in his decision to join. He highlighted the club’s recent Europa League semi‑final appearance as evidence of its potential.

Forest finished 16th in the 2025‑26 Premier League, five points above the relegation zone, after employing four managers during the campaign. Glasner replaces Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed earlier this month. The new Austrian emphasised the need to translate the league’s competitiveness into tangible results.

“It is important now to get some consistency and battle regularly for the top half of the league,” Glasner asserted. He promised to develop a distinct playing style and a strong club identity. The manager believes that unity among staff, players and supporters will drive Forest forward.
