Ganso's dream in Milan fades: amid offers and a complaint to FIFA
In January 2011 Milan and Inter had shown they were ready to go to extremes to secure the Brazilian midfielder from Santos, Paulo Henrique Ganso, but the deal never took off and the Brazilian club filed a complaint with FIFA.
The negotiations and Ganso's reaction
At the time Ganso was valued at fifty thousand million euros and, injured, declared: “I am injured – he explained at the time – yet a great European club, the world champion team (that is Inter), wants to count on me.”
Agents Thiago Ferro and Papito Lima traveled to Milan to inspect the facilities of the two clubs, hoping to finalize the agreement.
Santos' complaint to FIFA
Santos sent a copy of the notice to Milan, Inter, the Brazilian Football Federation, FIFA and the Paulista Federation, claiming that no club had negotiated with Santos.
The Brazilian club clarified that it owned only 45% of the player's economic rights, the remainder belonging to an agent.
In 2012 Ganso's agent became upset because Santos chose to focus on Neymar, leaving the Brazilian without a future in Milan.
Ganso then moved to São Paulo, Sevilla, Amiens and, finally, returned home with Fluminense.
Today Paulo Henrique Ganso turns thirty‑seven, but his possible Milan derby remains an unfulfilled dream.
