Hütter lambasts Frankfurt's defensive collapse after Leipzig loss
Under the floodlights at Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena on 10 October, Frankfurt’s defence fell apart within minutes, conceding the opening goal after just one minute and a second by the fifth minute. The early setbacks set the tone for a crushing defeat that would leave the visitors reeling.
Midfielder Ritsu Doan and defender Keita Kosugi started the match, but Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku struck a hat‑trick in the first half and added another in the second, sealing a 0‑6 loss for Frankfurt. The German side could not recover, with the scoreline reflecting a complete defensive collapse.
After the game, coach Adolf Hütter described the 0‑6 away defeat as a disgrace for the club and its supporters, insisting that the defensive work must improve tenfold. He also explained that captain Robin Koch was withdrawn at half‑time because his leadership on the pitch was insufficient, contrasting the performance with the more passionate defence shown in the earlier 3rd‑round victory over Mainz.
