Delayed signing: Why Harry Kane still hesitates at Bayern
In the shadow of the Allianz Arena, a reporter watches Harry Kane walk through the evening sun in Munich, while negotiations over the extension of his contract with FC Bayern, which runs until 2027, are still not concluded. Specific details remain hidden for now, but the tension is rising.
Breakthrough and Open Details
Last week, Sky reported unanimously about a breakthrough in the talks between Kane and the German record champions. Despite this progress, there has been silence since then, until President Herbert Hainer broke the silence and explained the remaining points.
"It's about many details. Image rights, personality rights and so on. We will clarify these details. It's not about the contract length or anything similar," Hainer said. "I am very optimistic, the talks are going very well, and Harry and his family feel extremely comfortable in Munich," he added.
Kane's Future, Contract Length and Financial Framework
As soon as the final points are resolved, Kane is expected to sign a new contract until at least 2029. Sport reported that an extension until 2030 is also on the table, which is unusual given his advanced age of thirty‑three years. Board member Karl‑Heinz Rummenigge, however, considers this justifiable.
Max Eberl: No talks with Michael Olise at FC Bayern
"Earlier I would have said: For players over 30, you should basically only offer one‑year contracts. But there are exceptions when you are convinced by a player. And that's the case with Harry," Rummenigge told the Abendzeitung. He added: "One must not forget, in three years he was only injured once."
Kane describes himself as being at the peak of his career. The English top striker, together with Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé, is among the favorites for the Ballon d’Or.
Since his move in 2023 from Tottenham Hotspur, he has scored 152 goals and provided 37 assists in 155 competitive matches. His salary of an alleged €25 million is said to remain unchanged.
Bayern want to keep Michael Olise, but the release clause blocks
The Bayern bosses could, after the signing, shift their focus to Michael Olise, whose contract, according to Sky, is set to receive a record salary. Rummenigge expressed confidence that Olise will be extended until 2032, which makes the negotiations considerably more complex than with Kane.
