Hiddink's bold swap: Bosz for Oranje, Slot for PSV

🇳🇱
Former Dutch success coach Guus Hiddink has floated a plan that would see Peter Bosz appointed as the next Netherlands national team manager while Arne Slot takes over as head coach at PSV Eindhoven, citing a similar arrangement from the mid‑1990s involving Dick Advocaat. Hiddink discussed with De who Ronald Koeman must succeed at Oranje. He said he would first try to persuade Pep Guardiola, but he also has another candidate in mind. "I find Peter Bosz also a very suitable candidate, in terms of age and style of football," Hiddink said. "I think PSV will not just go along with it, but perhaps a solution can be found and then I look back to the past." Hiddink recalled his own dilemma in the 1994/1995 season after leaving Valencia. PSV had asked him to return, but he felt it was too early for such a move. He explained that PSV and the KNVB eventually crafted a solution: Dick Advocaat, then the national coach, became PSV's trainer, and Hiddink stepped into the national team role. Hiddink believes a comparable construction could be arranged today, with Bosz as the Dutch coach and Arne Slot as PSV trainer. He argues that Bosz's age and football philosophy fit the national team, while Slot could bring his recent success to Eindhoven. If a workable agreement is reached, Hiddink expects both the KNVB and PSV to benefit from a fresh partnership that mirrors the successful 1995 model.
