Here's how football sees Jorge Jesus breaking CR7's commandments

In a statement posted on Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo outlined the eight commitments that his manager, Jorge Jesus, did not honor, triggering his departure from the national team. The player detailed each point, recalling that the initial plan had been accepted and that the failure to respect these agreements was the cause of the discomfort.

The context of the Nations League

The dispute occurred during the Nations League phase, where Portugal was set to face Wales and Norway. Ronaldo was supposed to play only the first and fourth matches, but he was rested during the trips to Norway and Denmark, which has already raised questions about the planning.

The crisis meeting and the press conference

After a cancelled training session, an emergency meeting was arranged with Tiago Craveiro, Cristiano's advisor, and Simão Coutinho, sporting director of Al Nassr. Despite this meeting, Jorge Jesus did not follow the agreed instructions, as the coach highlighted during the press conference on September 30 at Parken Stadium.

The eight detailed commandments

Ronaldo published the following points: 1) he proposed a plan to Cristiano, 2) he knows the player's attachment to the national team, 3) the plan was accepted, 4) the player never questioned the decisions, 5) the match in Norway was not scheduled but the player was ready, 6) he sent a player of the stature of Pelé or Maradona to warm up without playing him, 7) he wants Cristiano to be fully present, 8) he blames Ronaldo for not having greeted the supporters.

“I think it is important, not just because it is the truth, to clarify certain things before talking about Denmark,” wrote Cristiano Ronaldo, adding that the failure to honor these commitments was “a moment of frustration that erases nothing.”

Jonathan Lange, editor-in-chief of Les Sports, recalled that Ronaldo's statement kept the promise made by the star to give his version of the facts, point by point, and that the player emphasized his role as an ambassador, signing more autographs and selfies than anyone else.

Present in Leiria on Tuesday evening for the Under‑21 matches, Jorge Jesus said: “I have read the statement and now I will do what I do every day: work for the federation, think about the team and the Portuguese national side. I have nothing else to add.”
