Hendon's Ezekiel Williams dies suddenly aged 26

Non‑league midfielder Ezekiel Williams, 26, died suddenly on Monday afternoon. Hendon, who compete in the Isthmian League South Central Division, the eighth tier of English football, described him as a humble, unassuming and generous individual.

Club tribute and memories

The club posted a heartfelt tribute on its social‑media channels shortly after 7 pm on Tuesday, announcing they were stunned and heart‑broken by the sudden loss of midfielder Eze the previous afternoon. Williams had joined Hendon in September, quickly becoming a popular figure in the dressing‑room and beginning to carve a place in midfield with hard‑working, selfless displays. Only ten days earlier he scored his first goal for the club against Jersey Bulls. In respect, the London Senior Cup tie with Woodford Town scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed.

A fundraiser has been set up in his memory, with Hendon urging supporters to donate. The club added that our thoughts and prayers are with his family and that he will be very sadly missed. Hendon manager Adam Fisher posted on X, saying he could not believe the news, that Williams was a top lad, generous, kind, a great teammate and a good footballer, and that the club will do all it can to support his family. Club secretary Jeremy Lawrence called the news devastating, recalled signing him at his house and described him as a lovely, humble man who will be greatly missed.

London Colney manager Matty Day said the news was sad and awful, recalling that Williams had contacted him at the start of the season and that his thoughts are with the family and friends.
