Hélène Hendriks favors Arne Slot over foreign coaches for Dutch job

🇬🇧
Sport presenter Hélène Hendriks says the next Netherlands national team coach should be Arne Slot, highlighting his tactical acumen and press‑handling skills, during a Sportnieuws podcast recorded today. She argues the Dutch side needs a domestic tactician rather than a foreign appointment. "My first thought goes to Arne Slot. That's more because he has shown what he can do. He can handle the press incredibly well and has a very strong analytical ability. Tactically he is very strong," Hendriks said. She added that Slot's recent performances demonstrate the qualities she values. She also named Peter Bosz as a possible leader but noted he is currently at PSV. She said it would be strange for him to leave that club abruptly. Pep Guardiola was mentioned as another top‑coach option. Hendriks argued the Netherlands already has enough high‑level Dutch coaches to fill the role, preferring a local over a foreign appointment. Michael Reiziger, coach of Jong Oranje, was also listed as a candidate. He has overseen 29 matches with an average of 2.14 points and previously led Jong Ajax to the Eerste Divisie championship. Hendriks' shortlist pits domestic talent against the allure of foreign expertise. The Dutch FA now faces a decision that will shape the national team’s tactical direction.
