Guardian names three Dutch clubs with 2009-born talents
The British newspaper has published its annual list of sixty biggest talents worldwide, on which the Dutch clubs Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord are represented. The list includes, among others, the 2009‑born Abdellah Ouazane, Mohamed Abdalla, Mikkel Bro Hansen and Jerayno Schaken.
Ajax talents in the spotlight
With Abdellah Ouazane and Mohamed Abdalla, the Amsterdammers even field two players. ‘Even among the world’s biggest young talents, Ouazane stands out.’ The Moroccan midfielder is this season the talk of the town in Amsterdam, after breaking into Ajax’s first team.
‘His composure on the ball in midfield truly gives substance to the often‑used cliché of the “Rolls‑Royce midfielder”. Ouazane is unbelievably pressure‑resistant and glides with both feet smoothly past opponents.’ The newspaper compares his versatility to Jude Bellingham.
The paper presents Abdalla as ‘the youngest goal scorer ever for a Dutch club in a European match’. ‘By scoring on his debut, he immediately wrote history at the club and joined the ranks of illustrious predecessors such as Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten.’ Abdalla, born in Eindhoven and son of Sudanese parents, made the move from PSV to Ajax in 2024, together with his two younger brothers.

PSV and Feyenoord signings on the list
Mikkel Bro Hansen, the seventeen‑year‑old striker who arrived in the summer from FK Bodø/Glimt, also appears on the Guardian list. ‘The striker can shoot cleanly and powerfully with both feet, is very mobile and possesses good game insight,’ said coach Kjetil Knutsen. The Norwegian coach described him as ‘dedicated, with football sense and an enormous work ethic.’ Hansen signed for PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth €3 million.
Jerayno Schaken, son of Ruben Schaken, impressed by scoring on his debut for Feyenoord in September 2026. The Guardian calls him one of the most promising wing talents of his generation and praises his confidence. Three days before a match against Barcelona he openly named Real Madrid as his dream destination and claimed he was ‘100 % better’ than his father.
The two lists – one for the biggest Premier League talents and one for the biggest worldwide gems – underline the growing role of Dutch youth players on the international stage.
