Gonçalo Ramos remains unheard by Portugal, Crespo rebukes him

Saturday 26 September 2026, during the Nations League Football Highlights Live broadcast, Gonçalo Ramos was ignored even with Portugal, while the former striker Hernan Crespo sharply rebuked him, calling him “not a striker”. The audience of Sportmediaset, with video, photos and comments, followed the evening without any breakthrough for Milan’s forward.

In Serie A, Ramos scored only one goal, against Venezia, in a total of 558 minutes, marking his only goal since he arrived at Milan (MILAN). Almost a month has passed without finding the back of the net, and since 28 August he has played four matches without scoring.

In the Nations League, the forward was called on in place of Cristiano Ronaldo in the final minutes against Wales, playing 23 minutes without leaving a trace. Portugal’s goal drought has therefore lengthened.

Criticism and economic context

The €75 million transfer, paid by Milan, has been judged excessive compared to the current performance. Hernan Crespo, now coach of Atlas in Mexico, said: “Gonçalo Ramos has never been an infallible sniper. He is a good player, an excellent centre‑forward who will eventually score goals, but given the money spent on his acquisition, fans expected a top‑class goal‑machine.”

Crespo recalled that in the last three seasons at PSG Ramos scored 53 goals in 131 appearances, a rate of less than one goal every two games. Some observers, however, highlighted his role against Lecce, where he provided the perfect assist for Rabiot’s double and created a lane for Diego Moreira.

Future prospects

Tomorrow evening, in Oslo, Portugal will face Norway led by Erling Haaland, a match that could provide the first signs of awakening for the young forward, nicknamed “Gonçalito” by fans.
