City Temo for life, Rui Pinto launches a fundraiser
Rui Pinto used his Twitter profile a few minutes ago to announce his exclusion from the witness protection programme, stating that he fears for his life and has launched a campaign on GoFundMe to obtain financial support.
Rui Pinto's Path
Rui Pinto, a young Portuguese computer enthusiast and former history student, went from being a complete unknown to becoming one of the most controversial and influential figures in world football. In 2015 he founded the platform Football Leaks with the aim of exposing alleged financial irregularities in elite European football. Operating under the pseudonym John, he obtained without authorization millions of files containing email, confidential contracts and transactions of various clubs and sports agencies.
Threat to Life and Fundraising
Among the events that emerged, Manchester City was found guilty of all the accusations of financial violations. A few minutes ago, via his Twitter profile, Rui Pinto announced that he had been excluded from the witness protection programme, fearing for his life. “Wednesday, a few hours after the verdict that officially confirmed the guilt of Manchester City, the Commission responsible for the witness protection programme in Portugal informed me of the decision to terminate my participation in the programme and to revoke police protection, knowingly exposing me to a life‑threatening situation.” He stated that he must relocate within the next days to a secret location for an indefinite period because of numerous death threats. For this reason he launched a campaign on GoFundMe, asking everyone for support to overcome the serious situation created by the Portuguese state. He thanked those who support Football Leaks and assured that the battle will undoubtedly continue.
