Getafe chase Jadon Sancho as his value falls to ten million
The English striker Jadon Sancho, currently unattached, is the subject of Getafe's interest after his market value, which reached €130 million in March 2020 according to Transfermarkt, has dropped to ten million. Sancho, 26, is looking to restart his career after several failed transfers and a recent loan at Aston Villa.
Career and decline in value
Sancho made his mark at Borussia Dortmund, where he scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists over four seasons, earning him the second spot on Transfermarkt's list behind Erling Haaland. At that time, the Norwegian, his teammate, was also among the most highly valued.
In 2020, at 19, he hit his peak value of €130 million; only Kylian Mbappé was higher at €180 million. However, his stint at Manchester United, which cost €85 million, was modest: five goals and three assists in 38 games (2021‑22) and seven goals with three assists in 41 matches (2022‑23) under Ten Hag.
Recent years and possible return to Getafe
After the split with Ten Hag in September, Sancho returned to Dortmund, where he reached the Champions League final against Real Madrid. He was then loaned to Chelsea, winning the Conference League under Maurizio Maresca, and later to Aston Villa, where he secured the Europa League but with limited involvement.
Sancho weighs 97% pay cut as Getafe bid looms in summer
In the most recent season, he scored just one goal and delivered three assists, and his contract with United expired at the end of the campaign. Transfermarkt now values him at ten million, a drop of €120 million from his peak.
Getafe, which has shown interest in Sancho, also cites Mason Greenwood as a benchmark for a possible signing. Manuel Malagón of Getafe has said the club dreams of bringing in the English striker to boost its attack.
Sancho, who played Euro 2020 for England and missed a penalty in the final, has yet to appear in a World Cup. At 26, he hopes for a chance to show that he still has plenty to offer.
