Gasperini warns Roma cannot underestimate United at Old Trafford

Gian Piero Gasperini said “We cannot underestimate United.” Roma are ready to take on Manchester United in the arena of dreams. On the eve of the fourth Champions League matchday at Old Trafford, Gasperini addressed a press conference to introduce the big match against the Red Devils and answer journalists’ questions.

United’s league struggles

“Manchester United are having a tough time getting results in the league, but we can’t let that distract us. They’re a strong team, they have some top‑notch players, and it’s a heated and challenging environment. We’re preparing as if we were facing the best Manchester United.”

“Perfection doesn’t exist for the greatest teams, and not even for us. Our strength is that we always strive to improve. We know our characteristics, but we know that in some situations we can do better.”

“Everyone has the right to dream. I try to make dreams achievable soon, starting tomorrow, in a fantastic, world‑famous stadium. I hope it’s achievable.”

“If you’re missing Pellegrini, Dybala, and Koné in the same positions, let’s try to adapt a bit at certain times. We have the option of Castro with Malen, in midfield we’re limited. I hope this is a transitional period. We’ve played these seven games on the edge. But we’ve always had well‑prepared players who have recovered quickly. Mora? He’s fine, the 17 players are all ready. After the break, we hope to get everyone back. It’s going to be difficult this week.”

“Wesley is also doing very well in that department, as is Lulli. Molina needed to play, and Rensch also did very well. It’s demanding for them; they cover a lot of ground with acceleration and speed.”
