Fulham intensify chase for Real Madrid Palacios amid Garcia interest
[Getty Images] Fulham are advancing talks to sign Real Madrid midfielder Cesar Palacios. The club’s interest follows a push by former Real youth coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who is also linked to striker Gonzalo Garcia, as the English side looks to strengthen its midfield ahead of the new season.
Palacios, 21, is a key target for Arbeloa, who worked with him in the Real Madrid academy after serving as a youth coach. Arbeloa later took interim charge of the Spanish giants last season, further deepening his familiarity with the midfielder.
The potential signing could be one of several moves involving players from the Bernabeu, with Garcia among the forwards being evaluated. Garcia is being considered to replace Raul Jimenez after the Mexican striker returned to Wolves this summer.

Fulham remain doubtful about securing Garcia because Jose Mourinho wants to keep the striker in his squad. That stance may prompt Real Madrid to place a high valuation on the forward, forcing Fulham to explore multiple options for the position.
So far Fulham have not added any new signings beyond converting Jonah Kusi‑Asare’s loan from Bayern Munich into a permanent deal. They also saw attacker Harry Wilson leave on a free transfer to Leeds United.
If the deal materialises, Fulham would gain a young midfielder familiar with Real’s style, while Madrid could secure a fee and free a squad spot. The negotiations also highlight Fulham’s intent to reinforce priority areas ahead of the upcoming season.
