Frimpong misses international break after muscle injury at Liverpool

On a drizzly Saturday in the Anfield Road‑zone, Jeremie Frimpong fell during the 1-2 victory over Brentford, but had to leave the field just six minutes later with a new muscle injury. The 25‑year‑old Dutch winger saw his participation in the upcoming international break at risk.
Manager's update
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola gave, during the press conference ahead of the Champions League tie against Villarreal, an update on Frimpong's physical condition. \"Jeremie clearly has a new muscle injury, which occurred in the second or third minute of the match,\" said the Spanish coach.
Implications for the Dutch national team
Iraola added that it will be difficult to get the winger back before the international break. Frimpong has missed around 25 games since joining Liverpool due to hamstring and thigh injuries, and will probably have to miss the internationals against Greece on November 13 and Germany three days later.
The Dutch international, who moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool on May 30, 2025 for roughly €35 million, has so far earned 43 international caps, three goals and four assists.
