Ipswich Town boost WSL2 ambition with Aimee Palmer

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Ipswich Town have secured a free three-year deal for 25-year-old midfielder Aimee Palmer to strengthen their WSL2 campaign, addressing the need for proven league experience after a busy summer window. The Tractor Girls announced the signing on their official website, confirming Palmer’s arrival at Portman Road following her departure from English Southampton last month.

The three-year contract was completed on a free transfer, meaning Ipswich Town incurred no fee for the midfielder. Palmer previously won the Barclays WSL2 title with Manchester United and later with Bristol City, and she also featured for Sheffield United in the second tier.

In the most recent Barclays WSL2 season, she made 16 appearances for Southampton, scoring two goals. Earlier in her career, Palmer represented England at various youth levels, adding international pedigree to her résumé.

Palmer expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m really excited to be here at Ipswich.” She added, “After a few calls with Sean Burt and David Wright listening about the plans here, the decision was a no-brainer for me.”

The midfielder becomes the club’s fifth signing of a very busy summer transfer window. Ipswich Town hope her experience will bolster their WSL2 campaign.
