France-Italy Mancini leaves nine at Coverciano, Romano still out and Inacio remains in Italy

Coach Roberto Mancini has decided not to send nine national team players to Paris, a decision that marks the preparation for the showdown against France in the third matchday of the Nations League. Among those staying in Italy are Alessandro Romano and Samuele Inacio, still omitted from the list for tomorrow evening's match at 20:45.

Managing the preparation

As already happened on the away trip to Turkey, Mancini split the group into two parts to optimise the tactical work. On the eve of tomorrow's match on French soil, the decision was motivated by the desire to manage the preparation in the best possible way ahead of Monday's game against Turkey.

Who stays in COVERCIANO

The nine Azzurri who will not travel are Honest Ahanor, Nicolò Cambiaghi, Diego Coppola, Daniele Ghilardi, Samuele Inacio, Eddy Kouadio, Rolando Mandragora, Massimo Pessina and Alessandro Romano. This morning they will not train with the rest of the squad, but in the afternoon they will take part in a work session with part of the technical and performance staff, including Massimo Maccarone, Cristiano Lupatelli, Giulio Nuciari and Luca Bossi.

Returns for the match in France

Among the most interesting notes, the returns of Nicolò Barella and Daniel Maldini, who were absent on the trip to Turkey, are now available for the showdown against France. The squad heading to Paris includes goalkeepers Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marco Carnesecchi and Guglielmo Vicario, defenders such as Michael Kayode and Alessandro Bastoni, midfielders including Nicolò Fagioli and Sandro Tonali, and forwards such as Moise Kean and Gianluca Scamacca.

Tomorrow's match will be played at the Stade de France in Saint‑Denis, with the refereeing duties entrusted to the Spaniard Gil Manzano. The broadcast will be live on Rai 1 at 20:45, giving the Azzurri the chance to face the French hosts in the Nations League.

Italy's next commitment is scheduled for Monday, 5 October in Bologna, where they will face Turkey. Mancini's decision to keep part of the squad in COVERCIANO was explained by the FIGC as a way to manage the preparation in the best possible manner ahead of that match.

With the squad split, training will continue both in Paris and in COVERCIANO, while the players remaining in Italy will follow a specific programme to maintain a competitive rhythm until they return to the national team.
