France-Italy Mancini cuts squad to 23 for Paris

Head coach Roberto Mancini has decided to leave nine players at Coverciano and to take 23 players to Paris for the clash against France, scheduled for tomorrow evening at 20:45 at the Stade de France in the third matchday of League A of the Nations League.

Nine players remain at Coverciano

The nine Azzurri who will stay at Coverciano are Honest Ahanor, Nicolò Cambiaghi, Diego Coppola, Daniele Ghilardi, Samuele Inacio, Eddy Kouadio, Rolando Mandragora, Massimo Pessina and Alessandro Romano. They will work with part of the technical and performance staff, while the rest of the squad will travel to France.

The squad of 23 called up for Paris

In goal will be Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marco Carnesecchi and Guglielmo Vicario; in defence, Michael Kayode, Matteo Ruggeri, Riccardo Calafiori, Giorgio Scalvini, Gianluca Mancini, Alessandro Bastoni and Giovanni Di Lorenzo. In midfield we have Nicolò Barella, Nicolò Fagioli, Sandro Tonali, Samuele Ricci, Issa Doumbia and Davide Frattesi; in attack, Pio Esposito, Moise Kean, Mohamed Alì Zoma, Gianluca Scamacca, Daniel Maldini, Antonio Vergara and Sebastiano Esposito.

Compared to the previous away match, Gianluca Mancini, Nicolò Barella, Daniel Maldini, Mohamed Alì Zoma and Samuele Ricci return to the group, while several young players who have already featured in the early matches of the tournament remain excluded.

The match against France is the third fixture of the group for the Azzurri, who come after the defeat to Belgium and the 4-1 victory over Turkey. Mancini has replicated the approach used in Turkey to preserve energy ahead of the next commitment against the Turks, scheduled for Monday 5 October in Bologna. This decision to manage the squad aims to keep concentration high and to handle the tight calendar, with the Nations League continuing to require frequent rotations. The article comes from .it.
