Forest's midfield overhaul hinges on £40m Curtis Jones chase

🇬🇧

Nottingham Forest face a midfield void after the £116 million departure of Elliot Anderson, prompting a swift search for a replacement. Curtis Jones has emerged as the club’s primary target, with a reported valuation of around £40 million in the upcoming transfer window.

The exit of Elliot Anderson, who left for £116 million, leaves Forest without a creative midfielder. The club’s recruitment team appears determined to reinvest wisely to restore the midfield balance.

Curtis Jones offers a blend of Premier League experience and untapped potential. Forest’s valuation for the midfielder is reported at roughly £40 million.

Liverpool are aware of Forest’s interest but are under little pressure to sell, as Jones is entering the final year of his contract. The Reds would rather keep him if their valuation is not met, though they are prepared to let him leave on a free transfer next summer rather than accept an undervalued offer.

Jones started 18 of his 34 Premier League appearances last season under manager Arne Slot. His career tally includes 228 appearances, 22 goals and eight major trophies.

Inter Milan previously tested Liverpool’s resolve with a £21.5 million bid that was rejected immediately. Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who has asked to leave, is also being tracked by Forest, while Chelsea and Aston Villa continue to monitor his situation after earlier approaches failed.

If Forest can meet Liverpool’s valuation, the signing would represent a statement move to strengthen a squad aiming to build on recent progress. Negotiations will need to address the player’s contract situation and the financial outlay required.
