FMF welcomes Infantino’s halt to World Cup stake sale

By 4AllFootball ·

Gianni Infantino halted his plan to sell a stake in the World Cup, and this afternoon the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) issued a statement confirming the decision. FIFA withdrew the financial project, closing the matter for the FMF, which praised the unity of all Confederations and Federations.

The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) released a statement confirming that FIFA had informed the Federations of the withdrawal of the financial project. “Today, FIFA informed the Federations that it withdrew the financial project, so for the FMF, the matter is closed. We celebrate that the unity of all Confederations and Federations has been prioritized for the benefit of football,” the FMF said.

This made the FMF the only Federation in the Concacaf region to accept the review process proposed by FIFA. The federation emphasized its willingness to engage with the process aimed at shaping the future of Mexican football.

The review process was presented as a means to make the decision that best suits the development of Mexican football. By embracing it, the FMF signalled its commitment to national football progress.

With the financial project withdrawn, the FMF declared the matter closed. It added that the prioritisation of unity among all Confederations and Federations serves the broader benefit of football.
