Flick watches Dani Olmo at Wembley and reaffirms his confidence in Barcelona’s attacking midfielder

Sports journalist Hansi Flick was seated in the Wembley stands on Saturday to watch the Nations League match between England and Spain, and what he saw from Dani Olmo gave him even more reasons to be satisfied with having the attacking midfielder in Barcelona's dressing room.

Flick's Observation at Wembley

Olmo played until the 81st minute, when he handed his place to Mikel Merino, and was one of the key pieces that sustained the world champion's comeback. In the second half, he threaded the pass that allowed Álex Baena to score the 2‑2 equaliser in the 60th minute, before Oyarzabal sealed Spain's victory in the 74th minute.

The match started with a goal from Lamine Yamal in the second minute, but Anthony Gordon (36') and Harry Kane (40') restored the lead to England before halftime. A penalty missed by Kane, which hit the crossbar, preceded Olmo's play that triggered Baena's goal.

Olmo's Future and Bayern's Interest

For the German coach, Olmo's performance was the best possible report during the busy international week, coinciding with news from London that described the player at his best, just as his future is once again on the table.

Vincent Kompany's Bayern would already have prepared a proposal close to €70 million to start negotiations, even though Olmo is tied to Barcelona until 2030 and the Catalan club is negotiating without urgency. The performance at Wembley only raises the price of any conversation.

Olmo, a native of Terrassa, demonstrated in 81 minutes against one of the continent's toughest opponents the ability to receive between the lines, turn and break blocks, a scarce profile that reinforces Flick's decision not to part with the attacking midfielder.
